Most of Caño Island is off-limits. Nevertheless, this does not prevent visitors from enjoying some of the BEST snorkeling in all of Costa Rica. The Caño Island Biological Reserve is the second best spot in the country for practicing this sport after Coco Island. The island's reefs grow about 12 different species of corals and house a stunning variety of marine life, with sea turtles, stingrays, hundreds of tropical fish and even humpback whales when in season.

The Caño Island Biological Reserve Snorkeling Tour is the perfect one-day getaway. You'll have the opportunity to snorkel TWICE on this exciting trip. The first snorkeling will take about 40 minutes around Caño Island's coral reef, followed by a break during which you can enjoy the island's main beach or stay on the boat if you prefer (approx. 20-minute break). For the second snorkeling you'll have an extra 30 minutes to enjoy the underwater wonders of the island or, if feeling more adventurous, you can choose to explore a bit of Caño Island's stunning nature trails that are not off-limits. Lunch will be served on board before heading back to Punta Uvita.

On the way back, you'll also have a pretty good chance to spot dolphins and even whales if in season, making it an amazing ending to such a journey!
