Because of its biodiversity, National Geographic refers to Costa Rica´s Corcovado National Park as “the most biologically intense place on Earth”. Located on the Osa Peninsula in southwestern Costa Rica, Corcovado National Park is home to about 5% of THE WORLD'S biodiversity, meaning that hundreds of species of plants and animals are encompassed in an area under 300 square miles!
The tour starts with a boat trip to the San Pedrillo Ranger Station in Corcovado National Park. During the scenic boat ride (approx. 1.5 hours) our guides will help you spot dolphins and even whales if in season, as well as other marine life, such as marine birds, sea turtles, etc. And once at Corcovado´s San Pedrillo Ranger Station, it's time to immerse in nature!
Over 400 different species of birds have been recorded in the area. Costa Rica´s all 4 species of monkeys, as well as sloths, crocodiles, poison dart frogs, caimans and even bull sharks are common wildlife sightings within Corcovado. Corcovado is also one of the final strongholds of the jaguar in Central America.
At San Pedrillo Ranger Station you can enjoy your time walking through the many nature trails. The tour includes a guided hike along two different trails, one of them leading to a beautiful Catarata or waterfall (about 40 minute walk). After enjoying the close contact with the park's wildlife, you will be treated to a buffet style lunch at San Pedrillo Station before heading back to Playa Uvita.
